The European Commission has been asked about the scandal involving SHISH and the "house arrest" measure against Vlora Hyseni.
Spokesperson Guillaume Mercier declined to comment on the specific case. He expressed full confidence in the Special Prosecution's ability to investigate and prosecute organized crime.
"We do not comment on issues that are in progress, but what we can say is that we closely follow developments related to the rule of law, especially justice reforms and the fight against organized crime and corruption, areas in which Albania has made considerable progress," Mercier said.
After reserving the right to speak on the file, Mercier gave a message of confidence in the institution that is investigating it:
“We have full confidence in the ability of the Special Structure Against Corruption and Organized Crime, known as SPAK, to detect, investigate and prosecute organized crime.”
The spokesperson added that communication with Albanian authorities continues:
“In a broader perspective, we are always in contact with Albanian counterparts.”
As for the European Commission's broader assessment of the situation, Mercier referred to the upcoming report on enlargement:
"Regarding our assessment of the situation, you know that the report on enlargement will be published in the coming weeks."
