Fires reduce tensions? Mitsotakis thanks Albania for the help
Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the fires

After initially rejecting and then accepting help from Albania, Greece has thanked our country for sending firefighting forces while fighting the fires for days now.

The Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has thanked on the X (former Twitter) platform all the countries that are helping the Hellenic country in the fight against the fires. Among them, he also thanks Albania, which has sent 48 firefighters and 9 vehicles to the neighboring country.

"We send our thanks to Albania for sending 48 firefighters and 9 vehicles to Greece to join us in our fight against the fires in Alexandroupoli. Thank you Albania", writes Mitsotakis.

After the assistance provided by Albania, the European Civil Protection System stated earlier in the day that the EU countries had met the need for ground troops and in this way there was a withdrawal of the fire service of our country.

But a few hours later another response came from the same system, in which it was announced that the Albanian forces would move towards Greece to join the firefighting vehicles and infantry that are participating in extinguishing the fires in Greece. .

More than 60 troops of the fire services of Maliqi, Korca, Gjirokastra and Dropulli as well as 10 vehicles of the armed forces and the Albanian civil defense system will go to the aid of Greece.

Greece is facing a very difficult situation due to the many fires of the last few days.
