The Socialist Party reacted after the debate at the central election commission meeting over the counting of diaspora votes.
Through a media reaction, the SP says it stands by the proposal that the parties should have only an observer role, while the votes should be counted by the CEC.
"The Socialist Party has held the position that it fully trusts the process of counting the votes of the Diaspora to the administration of the Central Election Commission. The SP has requested that political parties not have the right to count votes in the CEC but to have the status of a close observer role for the entire process of counting these votes that arrive through the postal service," the Socialist Party said.
Sp representatives at the CEC initially expressed their rejection, while the DP said that the CEC has no right to invent a new process for counting votes from abroad, and that they should be treated the same as votes within the territory of Albania.
