The Minister of Defense, Piro Vengu, says that the Albanian army will soon be enriched with two aircraft, which will also be for military use.

Vengu also mentioned the agreement signed between the state military company of Albania, KAYO, and the elite Israeli company in the field of defense, Elbit Systems Ltd., for the establishment of the Aviation Academy.

"We are finalizing the process for the purchase of 2 aircraft, dual-use aircraft, civil-military, primary use for extinguishing fires," said Vengu.

Regarding the increase of defense spending to 5% of the budget, a request of the Trump Administration, Vengu said that Albania is working to achieve this objective in a 10-year period.

"In the preparations for the NATO summit in The Hague, undoubtedly the main topic will be the increase of budgets in that ambition articulated by President Trump, in a 10-year period, by 5%. Albania is unquestionably committed to joining this goal so that we can implement it in this 10-year period", he said in a television interview.
