Prime Minister Edi Rama met today with Elmar Brok in Germany, while the latter supported the Democratic Party in the May 11 election campaign.

But for the leading democrat Sali Berisha, everything is ironic.

Rama, through a post on social media, alongside a photo with Brok, stated that the latter had congratulated him on his victory in his fourth term, even though the former MEP came to Albania to "kill" him politically.

Berisha did not comment at length on this situation, but said that Brok's congratulations were entirely based on irony.

Berisha further added that Brok is a friend of Albanians and of the free vote, thus emphasizing that the former MEP remains loyal to the Democratic Party, despite his meeting with Rama in Germany.

"He remains a friend and congratulations are ironic. It is ironic. If you ask, he is a friend of Albanians and their free vote. Congratulations are ironic," Berisha said.
