Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has reacted in connection with the assassination recorded today at noon in Shengjin, where businessman Ardian Nikulaj (Marku) was executed inside his bar.

Nikulaj was a candidate for the Municipal Council in Lezhë with the Social Democratic Party of Tom Doshi, while in the 2021 elections he was also a candidate for deputy with this political force, and earlier he was the director of Aluizni in Lezhë.

In a post on social networks, Berisha confirms that Ardian Nikulaj (Marku) had openly spoken against the current mayor of Lezha, Pjerin Ndreu, and against the Rama-Doshi alliance and the official line of his party.

According to Berisha, in recent days Ardian Nikulaj has received repeated threats from Ulsi Manja-Pjerin Ndreu, the main leader of Rilindja for Lezha District.

Dear friends, today for lunch, the businessman and exponent of the PSD, former candidate for deputy in the 2021 elections and candidate for councilor in these elections of this party, Ardian Nikulaj, was executed in his bar. This ugly crime happens three days after Edi Rama opened the campaign in Lezhë and after the victim, the late Nikulaj, had made it clear publicly that he was against the candidacy of Rilindja, Pjerin Ndreu, thus openly opposing the Rama-Doshi alliance and the official line of his party. Meanwhile, it is learned that in recent days he has received repeated threats from the bandit environment of the electoral criminals Manja-Ndreu, the main leader (capoband) of Rilindja for the Lezha District.

Expressing its condolences to the family of the deceased, PD condemns with the greatest severity the execution of local politician and businessman Ardian Nikulaj as an ugly criminal act in an electoral campaign and with a political background by crime phalanxes directly connected to the government.
