Prime Minister Edi Rama announced today via social media that Albania has been invited to become part of the Gaza Peace Board, an international initiative conceived by US President Donald Trump.

In his post, Rama says that he feels deeply honored by Trump's personal invitation and considers this an important step for the country in the international arena.

According to him, Albania is represented as a founding member, climbing "another peak unimaginable just a few years ago," and this also reflects the country's growing influence in the international arena.

Rama also emphasizes that this invitation is a reflection of the deep strategic partnership relations between Albania and the United States of America, which have been significantly strengthened in recent years.

"Very honored by President Trump's personal invitation to represent Albania on the peace board, a new international organization conceived by him, where Albania is invited as a founding member, thus reaching another international peak completely unimaginable just a few years ago."

I could not be more proud of Albania, for everything we have done in these years, turning it into a different Albania, dignified and respected worldwide as never before, and undoubtedly for the level to which we have raised our strategic partnership relationship with the United States of America, being invited with special respect and appreciation by President Donald J. Trump, to become part of an international board created and chaired by him himself and to work together with him.

Thank you, Mr. President. God bless Albania and the United States ", writes Rama.

What is the Peace Board?

The administration of US President Donald Trump has formalized the creation of the so-called “Peace Board” for Gaza, a new structure aimed at the interim administration and reconstruction of the territory after the war between Israel and Hamas. Among the founding members of the board are US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The founding executive board also includes Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, the president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, hedge fund manager Marc Rowan, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and U.S. national security adviser Robert Gabriel, according to the White House. Trump himself will chair the board, which is part of his 20-point plan to end the conflict in Gaza.

The board is expected to temporarily oversee the reconstruction process, with additional members to be appointed in the coming weeks. In parallel, a 15-member Palestinian technocratic committee has been established to oversee the day-to-day administration of Gaza after the war.

The US plan also envisages the deployment of an International Stabilization Force to guarantee security and the complete disarmament of Hamas. Meanwhile, the situation on the ground remains fragile, with ongoing ceasefire violations and a deep humanitarian crisis in the territory.
