Another departure from the Freedom Party.  Faik Basha , member of the Presidency and at the same time leader of the PL in Kamëz , has left Ilir Meta's party and will join the Socialist Party .

His announcement comes just one day before the start of the electoral campaign for May 11.

Basha himself announced his departure from the PL, who in a long post on Facebook said that he left due to the lack of meritocracy.

According to him, many places and positions in the Freedom Party have been filled through favoritism and personal relationships.

"In the future, I will continue to engage in the causes I believe in, and I hope to see a sustainable development in Albanian politics. The fundamental principles of a courageous and progressive party are merit and commitment to the principles of equality and justice. However, during the period that I have been part of this party, I have noticed a marked lack of meritocracy. It is clear that many places and positions have been filled through favoritism and personal relationships, bypassing the most capable and dedicated individuals in public causes," writes Faik Basha.

Basha will join Edi Rama and he also implies this in his post, where he says that it is time to work for a European Albania, the main motto of the Socialists during this campaign.

"I believe that the future of Albania is in the hands of its citizens. Every new effort, every small step forward, is a step towards a brighter future. Let us begin this battle together for a European Albania, to build an Albania that makes us all proud. The interests of a European Albania are the patriotic duty of every Albanian," Basha writes.

Basha says he has resigned as a member of the Freedom Party Presidency, Secretary for Public Safety at the Freedom Party, Chairman of the PL Advisory Group in the Municipality of Kamza, and Chairman of the Freedom Party Kamza.

We recall that there have been several departures from the PL, including the General Secretary, Endrit Braimllari, who has also joined Rama and is running as an MP on the open list of the SP in the Tirana district.
