The head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, commented today on the statement of the head of the PDIU, Shpëtim Idrizi, who a few days ago called not to vote for the opposition candidate for the Municipality of Himara, Fredi Bejleri, in the May 14 elections.

During a media conference, the DP leader said that such statements are unnecessary and serve the opponents.

"I have no comment whatsoever. Everyone makes their own decisions. This call, if made, goes in favor of our opponents. He made an unnecessary mistake in my opinion," said Berisha.

Meanwhile, Idrizi earlier said:

"PDIU has never called on the supporters of another political party how they should vote, but today is the time to call on Albanians not to vote for Fredi Bejler, the man accused of the Peshkepi massacre and convicted by the Court's decision Vlorë, with number 224/24.9 2004 and number 302/26.12.2006 with 3 years in prison for violating Albanian state symbols."
