The American Embassy in Tirana disclosed the meetings of Ambassador Yuri Kim with political representatives. On the official Facebook page of the American embassy, ​​it is said that the meeting focused on the May 14 local elections, as Ambassador Kim reminded the representatives of the SP, DP and PL of the ODIHR's recommendations and observations.

Kim has appealed to prevent any form of pressure to reveal how people voted, to investigate cases of vote buying and to guarantee the security of citizens' personal data.

“Shteti duhet të garantojë të drejtën për të zgjedhur lirisht dhe në fshehtësi. Çdo formë presioni për të zbuluar nëse dhe si kanë votuar njerëzit duhet të parandalohet.

Agjencitë ligjzbatuese duhet të intensifikojnë përpjekjet për të identifikuar, hetuar dhe ndjekur penalisht rastet e blerjes së votës. Qytetarët duhet të nxiten të raportojnë dhe të japin fakte për çfarëdo blerje votash apo presioni.

Shqipëria duhet të garantojë sigurinë e të dhënave personale të qytetarëve. Institucionet përkatëse duhet të hetojnë tërësisht dhe të ndëshkojnë çdo shkelje që ndikon në besimin e publikut në procesin zgjedhor”.

According to Kim, "legislation should be changed to ensure that the media are able to independently cover the activities of the contestants in the elections with the aim of limiting the use of materials produced by the parties in the news."

Party leaders also confirmed that they will scrutinize the respective candidates to ensure that they meet the requirements of the law as well as Albanian voters' expectations for clean candidates.
