The commanding chairman of the Democratic Party, Enkelejd Alibeaj, after the end of the meeting of the presidency and the meeting of the parliamentary group, said that the names for the mayor and the candidates for the municipal councils have been discussed.

Alibeaj said that the PD has one candidate, while the other candidates have other logos, adding that the candidates of the primaries are welcome to join them.

Question : Do you have a candidate for Tirana, Durrës and Elbasan?

Alibeaj : The process is ongoing. This process, as provided for in the decision of the Presidency, is a process that is based on the party statute. In one of the previous meetings, we requested the candidacy of the Primaries.

Question : Is there a clash between you and Bardhi?

Alibeaj : It is not ambiguity. I and everyone has an obligation to respect the decisions of the Presidency. What Bardhi has said is based on our positions for the Primary candidates of the Reestablishment group, they are invited to join the PD logo. This process will continue to be discussed here at the Presidency meetings.

Question : Bardhi stated that he will not issue candidates in these 3 municipalities.

Alibeaj : It is always according to the rules of the statute that these will be decided by the Presidency. 

Question : In Mirdi you said that the introduction of a part of democrats in a logo of another party marks a final division between democrats, have the bridges of communication with Berisha been cut?

Alibeaj : DP cannot have 2 candidates, there is only one candidate, the others can be under other logos, in parties opposite from PD such as PL or SP, let's say. To take Democrats and bring them to a party that does not have this logo or color, I believe that according to the rules of the statute, it is incompatible with the position and attitude of the Democratic Party.

I have made it clear for Berisha, it is not a personal issue, but clearly the identity of the DP. DP was founded as a pro-Western party, relations with the USA and the UK are at the core of this party's DNA. The relations or alliance of this party with them are more than sacred. We have done our best, beyond any patience that is justifiable to have a Democratic candidate and beyond. A winning candidate with morals to unite those who want to see Edi Rama's regime at a border, is clear to all of us.
