The chairman of the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party , Taulant Balla, says that the People's Advocate can be proposed by the opposition, but the candidacy must be a figure removed from politics and who has not been a DP figure in recent years.

In his speech in Parliament, Balla emphasized that the majority will not accept any candidate with a political profile.

"We want the People's Advocate to be proposed by the opposition and no MP of the SP will be involved in supporting a candidate with signatures, as the law and regulations allow. The People's Advocate cannot be the DP's advocate. It cannot be a prominent figure of the DP within the last few years".

Balla has invited the head of the PD parliamentary group Gazment Bardhi to sit in a meeting next week to discuss the candidacies.

" Let's sit down next week with the leaders of the Law Commission in order to verify the candidacies we have in front of us and start moving towards a group of 3-4 candidacies that can be the candidacies that get the most consensus. And then each of us in the parliamentary groups to ask for support. This is a model that needs to be consolidated. We are moving towards a candidacy that you may have the right to propose, but neither the parliamentary tradition nor the Constitution has told you that you have the right to appoint the Ombudsman. I think that since next week we have a week without major commitments, we should use the available time" , said Taulant Balla.
