The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, came out today in support of the investment in Zvërnec, even accusing the government of driving away foreign investors and creating artificial conflicts for narrow political and economic interests.
In his speech in the Assembly, Berisha said that the Democratic Party supports foreign investments, but at the same time protects property rights and the implementation of the law. According to him, the responsibility for resolving property conflicts belongs to the state and not to the investor.
Referring to the developments in Zvërnec and the conflict at Vlora Airport, Berisha accused the government of trying to drive away investors and ignoring the decisions of the Supreme Court.
"Foreign investments are vital for the development of Albania. In the energy field alone, 2 billion euros, the historic TAP project, the Devoll Cascade, the Fani Cascade. In addition, from 2008-2013 foreign investments increased from 1.2 to 1.4 billion euros.
What happens now? The Democratic Party supports foreign investment and you are driving away the only foreign investor left in Albania. You are driving him away. You voted for me, I am the man you voted for, he took off his mask. Screaming about property issues.
The DP stands for the full and absolute respect of property rights. What was the solution at a time when billions were invested here? Simple! If you have a project approved by the government, signed by official institutions, cadastre, other agencies and the state approved the project, no one had anything to do with the investor anymore.
Every citizen, for every injustice or abuse, had the state that would compensate them with market conditions and punish the speculator with the force of the law. This law is in force.
Look at what's happening with the Vlora airport. Is there an Albanian who doesn't know that you're being torn to pieces to take away the shares? Absolutely yes, you want to take the shares because 110 million euros are at stake, and after the Supreme Court decides, Karakaçi, whose name is Balluku, comes out and says: Find a solution or...! What is this? Implement the Supreme Court's decision there.
What happened to the citizen who was doing nothing. They kidnapped him, dragged him barbarically, and Skënder Balluku's statements that he had entered the territory. A video emerged showing that he was far from the wires, they took him and put him inside the wires, then Skënder Balluku reacted.
"How much bandit behavior have you shown towards the protesters? All of this has one result, strictly mafia interests. You are removing it and dressing it in all those colors. Where were you when the Vlora Airport was launched? It is the ugliest crime, it destroyed dozens of rare species of birds," Berisha said.
Berisha presented his position as a support for the investor and for the legal security of foreign investments, arguing that ownership conflicts should be resolved by the state without affecting approved projects and without discouraging foreign capital investing in Albania.
