Prime Minister Edi Rama, from the floor of the Assembly, challenged the opposition MPs who declared that their salary increase is unjustifiable and too high.
He said that the increase was made on the basis of a pyramid, as he said that if they want, they can decide that their salary is the minimum salary.
" It is hypocrisy to put your hands on your head about what I heard before, because the salary level is not determined according to whim but with the logic of experts. There is a salary pyramid. When I speak, I speak things that I know very well about the field that I do not know, which means that you cannot build a salary pyramid and put the President on less than a teacher's salary.
We made a conscious deviation, we even overdid it with the justice system, but it was done and cannot be undone. It is absurd that we cannot have prosecutors who are paid more than the President. They may have the most stressful job, but they may not have the highest salary.
Leave the orphanages, if you want, come on, set the minimum wage for MPs, come on! If you want to go all the way with the logic that everyone is bigger than you, let's decide. I think that we should not enter this monopathy to mock those who follow us ", said Rama.
He further said that he will vote against this bill.
"I am against one thing, that I vote for this item. Do what you have to do. The salary must be decided today and the salary increase must be done until the last one. If we tell the mesuses and doctors that you will receive this increase today and they will increase next year, you will receive it during the year and your salary will be full, then for MPs and ministers, the salary should enter into force and come to everyone's account when it has been done for everyone. That the rest is immoral. Whoever receives more must do more. This is my principle," he said.
