Rama with foreign journalists: They called me a Soros man, now a Kushner man.

Prime Minister Edi Rama commented on Tuesday on the controversy surrounding the tourism project expected to be developed in Zvërnec by Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner. During a conversation with journalists from European Union countries, the head of government focused on the numerous debates that have arisen around the investment, emphasizing that when the American couple first visited Albania, Donald Trump's political situation was far from what it is today.

According to Rama, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner's interest in investing in Albania was not related to the fact that they are part of the American president's family, as at that time it was unclear what Donald Trump's political and legal fate would be.

"The reason the world is excited about this is because of Donald Trump. I don't think the flamingos in Albania would have made such a big fuss if there wasn't an opportunity to go after Trump. But this has nothing to do with that."

"When Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner came here, it was not clear whether Donald Trump was going to jail or the White House. To me, they were American investors wondering if they could have a chance in Albania," Rama said.

The Prime Minister also responded to criticism that, according to him, has changed direction depending on political circumstances. He recalled that for years he has been accused by opponents of being close to George Soros, while now, according to him, he is being labeled as connected to Jared Kushner.

"On the one hand they tell me that I'm always Soros's, now they tell me that I'm Kushner's. Find out now who I am. I am the Prime Minister of Albania who wants everyone to come and invest here, to be friends of this country," he declared.

Rama stressed that Albania should not return to the arena of political clashes taking place in the United States or other countries, underlining that each project will be evaluated based on facts and concrete results.
