The Democratic Party has requested in today's session an interview with Prime Minister Edi Rama about the scandal with McGonigal.
However, the head of the government did not come to the session, avoiding the confrontation with the opposition, and according to the Speaker of the Assembly, Lindita Nikolla, he delegated this interpellation to the Minister for Relations with the Parliament, Elisa Spiropali.
This caused harsh reactions from the ranks of democratic deputies, who are looking for Rama and not the minister.
Deputy Gazment Bardhi has insisted that the prime minister and not his shadow should be questioned, since according to him, Spiropali was not in a meeting with MCGonigal, Neza and Ducka. He further stated that the interpellation takes place if it will be Rama or Ducka and Neza.
"I asked for an interview with the prime minister about his private meetings and not with his shadow. I did not call him as a defendant, but as the prime minister. You can't hide behind Elisa, Agron Neza and McGonigal. He must come to account for how he has criminally corrupted high officials in the FBI. According to the regulation, urgent interpellation is the first point. Suspend the plenary session. Exercise your authority. (says to Nikola).
Don't act like Edi Rama's puppet, act like the president of the Parliament. Call the Prime Minister to the session. Let me finish. As a lawyer I took Elisa, I don't interfere. But as prime minister, come here and give an account. I do not agree to interview the Prime Minister's shadow. I know that she was at these meetings, but it was the Prime Minister and Ducka and Neza. If Rama spoke in his ear and Elisa came here to act as a speaker" - said Bardhi.
Spiropali responded to Bardhi, saying that they are not allowing them to provide an explanation for the FBI official even though they have been asking for it for two weeks.
"I don't understand why you are so afraid. Please ask for clarification on the matter so that it can be completely clarified. Rest assured that we have the patience to bear with you. I am telling you that your desperate rush to jump to conclusions is ridiculous to say the least. Thank you as non grata, you have been scratching the nerves of the Albanian nation for two weeks. You are not allowing us to explain this issue once and for all. I understand your despair that even the drowned man is holding on to his hair and crossing a channel, but you want to cross the ocean and that's impossible, " Spiropali said.
