The National Council of the Democratic Party has voted for the party to enter the May 14 local elections through a coalition together with the Freedom Party. In this way, they also competed in the partial elections of March 6, 2022 in 6 municipalities. At that time the coalition was called "House of Freedom".

The decision was taken at today's meeting. Through this vote, the Presidency of the Democratic Party is mandated to form coalitions for local elections.

Another variant discussed at the meeting of the National Council was for the primary candidates to compete as independents, but this has not found much support.

"There was to some extent the idea that this could be combined. In different municipalities it was possible to come out with a coalition, in other municipalities it was possible to come out with an independent candidate, but in the end it was decided that we go out with a coalition in the whole country", said the head of the Council, Edi Paloka, after the meeting.

There is still no decision on the name of the coalition.

"There are several parties with which we have agreements. The Freedom Party, PBDNJ and all the parties we had in the coalition with which it will be discussed. The name of the coalition has not yet been decided," added Paloka. 

This decision comes two days after the decision of the Appeal, which brought back the issue of the stamp of the DP for trial from scratch in the First Instance.

On Monday, March 6, the deadline for registering parties in the elections expires. Sali Berisha announced the sending of the PD registry letter to the CEC. He considered the Appeal decision a "worthless letter".

According to Berisha, until the Appeal expresses itself about the appeal of the decision, that decision has not entered into force. We remind you that Enkelejd Alibeaj's party on the other side has announced that it will request registration in the elections. During this time he has presented several candidates in different municipalities.
