The head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a meeting with the heads of the branches of this political force this afternoon.
Berisha said that the mission of the Democratic Party is to remove Edi Rama from power, which according to him has become even more necessary with recent developments. He emphasized that the February 11 protest will not be the only one.
"We gather today at a very special moment, where it has finally become clear to all Albanians that Edi Rama, whom we rightly, with facts and arguments, have declared for a long time the enemy of our freedom, our vote, our existence. It is proven that from 2017 until today, this demon of power, a man without any principle, without any norm or moral value, has worked secretly and openly for the destruction of the opposition in Albania. He has mobilized funds, bought and bribed for his black page and those individuals among the most powerful on earth in the field of security as in the case of McGonigal.
This shameful act, hostile to the great country of freedom, which leads NATO and is responsible for freedom, is beyond any imagination that it is only done by the enemies of the USA. The truth is that between the corrupt recruitment that Edi Rama did to McGonigal, his use against the opposition, the establishment of monism in Albania, Deripaska's investments in Tirana, there is an inextricable connection.
But what we, as a pro-Western political force, have as our duty is the immediate removal from power of this man who, in his abuse, stabbed us in the back to American-Albanian relations. It is a heavy moral burden and not only that. His removal is necessary to distance every Albanian from this individual who does not hesitate to commit the most hostile acts towards the security of a greater country.
The test of the democrats is great, a mission that will save Albania. Every day that Rama is in power is a drama, a shame for every Albanian. The PD will rise to its feet until he is removed from power, we have discussed together in other meetings and we have defined Rama's departure as a mission to return the vote to the Albanians. This is the ultimate goal, but with new developments, leaving becomes twice as imperative. Revolts in squares, streets, institutions and everywhere. The position in the parliament, the parliamentary investigation, time calls the opposition people to find themselves in their watch. The most important hour in our mission, meanwhile we coordinate and make every effort for May 14 as a day of victory for our freedom candidates. We have started the battle in parliament,
We will interweave and combine all forms of effort in this battle. Revolts in squares, streets, institutions and everywhere. Standing in parliament, parliamentary investigation. The time calls the opposition people to be found in his watch. The most important hour in our mission. Meanwhile, we do not avoid, on the contrary, we coordinate every effort for May 14 as a day of victory for our freedom candidates. At first glance it is complex, but the mission requires all of this. The mission demands that we make all efforts for a real success of the DP on May 14, for the removal of Edi Rama and the return of the free vote to the Albanians. So, not an easy task, but absolutely doable. I am convinced that in this mission, the DP will win, the Albanian opposition will win", said Berisha.
Therefore, Berisha asked the democrats to mobilize like never before in the February 11 protest.
"The time is completely different, the time has changed, in the sense that not only the planned protest should have the maximum response, every democrat should be mobilized on February 11. It must be mobilized like never before, for the protest in Tirana. Tirana should also be poured into the square, Albania should flood towards Tirana. But we are in revolt, we are in protest, this is a revolution", emphasized Berisha.
