Sali Berisha

Opposition leader Sali Berisha declared on Monday from the podium that the Democratic Party is determined to carry out a peaceful uprising against the government, emphasizing that this is the path that leads to victory.

"We are determined for a peaceful uprising because it leads us to victory! We do not take power by force," said Berisha.

Berisha recounted an incident from his attempts to attend a rally in Lushnje in September 2021. He said that police had blocked roads and prevented citizens from participating, acting so that he would not arrive on time.

"So, the police had taken former mayor Lulzim Basha under my patronage. Do you understand what kind of opposition these people want? These are scoundrels who have neither morals nor honor. They have no principles. Against these people, only resistance is tooth for tooth, tooth for tooth, tooth for tooth," said Berisha.

He added that the opposition's determination does not stem from pity for the government, but from the conviction that peaceful uprising is the path to victory.

"But our determination for peaceful uprising stems not from mercy towards them, that they deserve no mercy, that they deserve the greatest punishments, but stems from the conviction that peaceful uprising leads us to victory. It brings us to victory."

The former prime minister concluded by emphasizing that, although this uprising is not a football match, it cannot be stopped without achieving victory.

"But this uprising, of course, is not a football match, but there is absolutely no force in the world that can stop it from winning."
