On the 100th anniversary of the Order of Skanderbeg, medals of honor were awarded this evening to 22 personalities of the Albanian nation, who have served in various fields.

The opening speech was delivered by the country's Prime Minister, Edi Rama, who emphasized that the medals bear the name of our national hero, who once and for all determined Albania's European orientation.

The "Grand Star of the Supreme Order of the Eagle" was awarded to former president Alfred Moisiu.

The "Big Star" was awarded to the renowned surgeon, Besim Elezi.

"I am immensely honored and appreciated for this recognition given to me as a doctor, in service to the people. I am happy that this Order was revitalized by the wise people who lead the state," he said.

"The Big Star" also for Seit Mansaku.

"I feel honored by this appreciation for my modest work, which is related to the great name of Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg," said renowned linguist Mansaku.

"Grand Officer" of the Supreme Order of the Eagle for researcher Aurel Plasari, who became emotional during his speech.

"The greatest importance of tonight is the 100th anniversary, the Albanian state has been fortunate to establish its orders under this order. I will tell you a curiosity, it was a dream of Faik Konica, that during the time of Turkey, when Konica established the Skanderbeg Award, the personality was announced, but the name was not given. Konica wrote to his friend, that when the time comes to establish a state, Albanians should create an order with the name of Skanderbeg, not with the names of saints. In this sense, this 100th anniversary is exciting", said Plasari.

"Grand Officer" of the Supreme Order of the Eagle also for the distinguished historian, Pëllumb Xhufi.

"We are here on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Order of Skanderbeg. Our national hero, Skanderbeg, has always been in my heart. I am very grateful to my professors. I owe a lot to my eternal scientific leader Aleks Buda, as well as to several honored professors, starting with Professor Kristo Frashëri," said the historian.

Francesco Altimari, an Arbëresh scholar in the field of Albanology, was honored.

Also, the scholar of Arbëresh literature, Matteo Mandala, with the "Great Officer" medal.

"I dedicate this medal to the Arbëresh people. We have been waiting for you to reunite with us in our European family. Welcome to us!", he said.

Ernesto Madeo received the "Great Officer" medal.

"We have done everything to be together. This great brotherhood unites us for six centuries and we have preserved everything from Arbëria. We managed to appreciate Arbëresh culture," he said in his speech.

Ismet Elezi won the "Academic Oak" medal at the age of 106.

At a very advanced age and in a wheelchair, Elezi found it impossible to speak, and his granddaughter spoke in his place. With a trembling voice, she said that her grandfather had dedicated his entire life to academia.

"We thank you for respecting my grandfather, his contribution to the academy and the Albanian nation," said his granddaughter.

Abaz Hoxha was honored with the "Big Star" medal.

"Thank you, Mr. President, Mr. Chairman of the Grand Council of Ministers, for this honor that is not given to me personally, but to the Albanian cinematography that I have dedicated my entire life to, to those who created a new culture in difficult conditions. Albanian cinematography has created films that remain in the history of the nation," he said.

Shpresa Gjongecaj was honored with the title "Commander" of the Supreme Order of the Eagle.

"The decoration is an appreciation for my scientific work for 50 years, mainly in archaeology. I am very honored for this award. Work done with humility never dies. I dedicate the decoration to my late husband, who passed away last year, but dedicated his life to science," she said.

The same decoration was given to Zyber Dushku, Etleva Domi and Fioralba Cakoni.

"I thank you for this appreciation for me. Thank you to the Prime Minister for the proposal and to the President for the decree," said Domi.

Milan's sporting director, Igli Tare, was awarded the title of "Knight".

"I am very proud to be Albanian. I have given a lot in the field of sports, I am still young and I still have a lot to give," declared Tare.

Mimoza Dhembi, with the title "Knights".

"I love the country very much, I do everything with love. We work every day with the secure finances of the Albanian state. I thank my family, who often miss me in the family, due to the late working hours. I represent the public administration and I am very proud of this," said Dhëmbi.
