Prime Minister Edi Rama participated in the event for the 100th anniversary of the Order of Skanderbeg, while medals of honor were distributed to 22 personalities of the Albanian nation, who have served in various fields.

In his opening speech, Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized that the medals bear the name of our national hero, who once and for all determined Albania's European orientation.

According to Rama, the Order of Skanderbeg is reborn today, with regained dignity.

The head of government honored with medals the family of Artan Lame and Filip Rrumbullaku, personalities whom he praised for the contribution they have made to the homeland.

"The medals bear the name of Skanderbeg, as he was the man who chose the right path in a very difficult era, the baptist of our European belonging. Today the name of our hero gathers us here again, 100 years after the Order of Skanderbeg. We are here to honor the Order of Skanderbeg, to honor those people who truly have merit for the progress of the nation. The Order of Skanderbeg was founded in 1925 and this order was a granite mass, which was laid in the foundations of the Albania of that time, where honor makes merit eternal. The Order of Skanderbeg survived many difficult times, from the kingdom, to the dictatorship to the very problematic pluralism.

In pluralism, even the dead received decorations that were stripped of all meaning. Thus, medals lost their significance. We undertook a profound reform of medals, to put the Republic in touch with its European sisters and relying on European practices.

"Today, the Order of Skanderbeg is honored as it deserves. Today, two medals will be awarded to Artan Lame and Filip Rrumbullaku. The Republic expresses its gratitude to the deceased. The medal shows that respect is earned through contribution and responsibility towards the nation and not based on wealth. The Order of Skanderbeg is reborn today, with regained dignity," Rama declared.

Meanwhile, President Bajram Begaj said that today marks an "anniversary that touches a century of history."

He emphasized that "for the first time the three national orders will be delivered under the new system."

Orders that, according to him, represent the three pillars of our national identity, the flag, virtue, and knowledge.

"We have an obligation to find them, to see them, not to wait for merits to declare themselves. Whoever recognizes a work or a contribution has the responsibility to bring it to attention. They do not seek honor, but they deserve it, precisely for this a new approach is needed," said Begaj, adding that the awarding of medals is a rite that shows that public honor is spiritual gratitude and appreciation of merit.

Only in this way, he said, will the decorations gain the necessary weight. He also touched on the topic of membership in the European Union, saying that Albania has people who serve as inspiration for future generations.

"Today we honor individuals who did not seek applause but deserved the respect of a nation. Thank you for the sacrifices, every name that is called today is a story in itself. It is these ordinary people who, with their work, become an example of an Albania that moves forward, where expectations and merit are the main compasses ," concluded Begaj.
