The representative of the European right, to which the Democratic Party is a part, David McAllister, like all European officials or diplomats, avoided meeting with Democratic leader Sali Berisha during his visit to Tirana yesterday.
The Chairman of the EP Foreign Affairs Committee, McAllister, met with Gazment Bardhi, Jorida Tabaku and Albana Vokshi, but did not find time for Sali Berisha, who during a statement to journalists tried to minimize the lack of a meeting with McAllister.
Berisha said that he has no function in parliamentary committees and that he met with the coordinator of the People's Parties parliamentary group, Michael Gahler.
"I met the coordinator. The coordinator of the parliamentary group of the People's Parties met with me. I do not have functions in the parliamentary committees, as you know. They come for the parliament and all the meetings are held at the parliament headquarters. But at the headquarters, the coordinator of the parliamentary group of the People's Parties came to me, that is, the one who represents the group with which the DP is affiliated. And an extremely important conversation took place. The chairman represents everyone else.
"So, I believe you got the answer. The AFET chairman is a representative of all groups, while the one who is a representative of the EPP came and had an extended conversation, but left extremely enlightened. And I can tell you that the dinner with Edi Rama will be remembered by them as unique in the degree of the host's ignorance that they have ever seen. I will not give you details, but it will be remembered by those men and women for the extreme degree of ignorance, they will never forget it," said Berisha.
