The Constitutional Court today granted Erion Veliaj the right to continue his duties as mayor of Tirana.
This overturns the government's decision to dismiss him from office following the proposal made by the Tirana Municipal Council. Also, no elections will be held in the capital, making President Bajram Begaj's decree invalid.
In this way, Ogerta Manastirliu, candidate for mayor from the Socialist Party, will not be forced to leave her mandate as an MP.
If the elections were held, Manastirliu would hand over her mandate as MP and she would be replaced by Blerina Gjylameti according to the list's ranking.
Thus, after losing by a few votes to Olta Xhaçka in the intra-party race, Gjylameti received a negative surprise today.
