The Speaker of the Parliament of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, has responded to the interest of the media after the meeting with the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama in Pristina.
Underlining that Rama can help Kosovo more than he is doing now, he tried to justify Albin Kurti's refusal to meet with the Albanian Prime Minister, with the thesis that the Kosovo government was hurt by the unilateral decision to cancel the meeting intergovernmental in Gjakova.
"We talked about the developments in the country, about the political situation, about the help we expect from the Rama government, about all these difficult processes that we are going through. I told him that Albania's help is irreplaceable and that Rama can help us much more than he is currently doing, so that the Republic of Kosovo, in our state and constitutional efforts, to establish order and law, should not be seen Kosovo is guilty, there is no one guilty here, there can be responsibility here", said the Speaker of the Parliament of Kosovo.
Despite the breakdown in the Kosovo-Albania relationship, Konjufca hinted that there will soon be a bilateral meeting between Rama and Kurti, but without giving a time when.
"This will be fixed soon, they will meet soon", he said.
Among other things, he underlined that Rama's draft for the Association contains elements that give autonomy to Serbs in Kosovo and this is harmful for the country. Konjufca also spoke about the "crises" that, according to him, Kosovo has had with Albania over the years, as if to show that the current tension can also be included among them.
"Rama was worried about the international pressure, but I got the impression that he is experiencing the pressure more than we are. We have no state problems with Albania. Kosovo has always taken giant steps in its cause, at all times, as long as the Republic of Albania has stayed behind. I remember only 2-3 moments in the 90s, even during the time of President Rugova, where Albania came up against Kosovo. Those were very rare cases.
Only a moment or two have been moments of crisis, when the Albanian prime minister has gone against the president or the ministers. We had a crisis in 2017, when it seemed that as for Kosovo, the Republic of Albania is also on the side of the territorial exchange. I think that this harmed the Republic of Kosovo. I think that the idea of the 'Open Balkans' has also damaged it. Because this is different from what Kosovo needs.
And now the third is what is harming the Republic of Kosovo, when we are in our right and where even the Republic of Albania is not understanding us. From this there are no positive things, with these positions Kosovo can only be damaged ", said Konjufca.
