Prime Minister Edi Rama was present at the conference organized for the 100th anniversary of the Bank of Albania, where he summarized its journey over the years.
The head of government praised the Bank of Albania, calling it one of the few institutions in the country that can be called at the right height.
"The BoA is the only one among the very few institutions of the Republic that can be called such with full confidence. With that meaning and standard in mind, we are talking about institutions that a country needs and that make this country meet the criteria. Many other institutions are in the process of being formed. It would be useful for the history of the development and efforts of the BoA to be formed to be taken over and written to give others an overview of the entire path of how such an institution was established. The BoA does not have a longer history than the government of Albania.
It was 1913 when, with the help of the Austrians, Ismail Qemali almost created the Bank of Albania. But the effort was brutally interrupted by the First World War and it took 12 years from that moment for Albania to have its own central bank. But the seed sown in 1913 led to the birth of the BoA, although the history with the BoA has not been generous, as with other institutions, I repeat that this is an institution that represents us as a model of how independent institutions should be", said Rama, among other things.
