The Democratic Party's opposition to its candidates in the KAS for the recount of preferential votes for DP leader Sali Berisha was in accordance with the law.

'In 2019, an amendment to the Electoral Code supported by the Venice Commission and ODIHR removed the right of candidates to submit requests of this nature. Venice, ODIHR and our code recognize this right for political entities that are also invested in the candidate. Our candidates have followed an advised path, I cannot say because our representatives have made clear the interpretation of my call that they should make through the party.
