As the country has been facing protests for 30 days, SP MP Erion Braçe has once again expressed criticism of the way internal democracy is functioning in the Socialist Party, which he said is weakening.
Invited to Report TV, Braçe said that the lack of functioning internal democracy in the Socialist Party is not healthy either for the political force itself or for society as a whole.
" I think that, in its entirety, as a system, the internal democracy of the SP does not function. As I have said before, the democratic processes within the SP, such as the election by vote of each member or the opportunity for members to choose who will represent and lead them before the electorate, have been replaced with announcements, which are sometimes on the wall of the Presidency, sometimes on the wall of the Parliamentary Group and so on.
"Is this healthy for society? No, it is not. I think that the internal democracy of a party, whether it is in power or in opposition, is much healthier than these restrictions ," declared Brace.
Regarding the criticisms of MPs Elisa Spiropali and Marjana Koçeku, Braçe praised the former Speaker of the Parliament, who he said has made a long-term contribution to the Socialist Party. Meanwhile, the socialist MP did not spare criticism of Koçeku, saying that she should show more restraint when speaking about the SP.
Brace said that "Neomalsorja" received the mandate without contributing anything to the Socialist Party and, according to him, should be more modest in its statements.
" Ms. Spiropali was a member of the Presidency, while after the new changes she is no longer, but is a member of the Parliamentary Group and of course it is her responsibility to speak out about what is not functioning within the party, as she has her contribution.
As for the other lady, I think it's too much to lecture the Socialist Party. So, the other lady should refrain when talking about the SP.
First, because she doesn't know him; second, she doesn't know anything about him, he hasn't contributed anything to the SP and he received a mandate from the party's closed list. Therefore, she should be more modest.
"It's a different person than the one I saw speaking in Parliament and another one than the one we're seeing now. They're two different people and he should spare himself from talking about the SP ," he said.
Further, Braçe stated that the problem that emerged after Koçek's departure from the SP is related to the closed list system.
" What did I tell you? That the lists were made by competition or by notification? They were made by notification. Let's put things as they are. That's why I say that the problem lies in the internal democracy of the parties. We may have a good electoral system, but it fails in the internal democracy of the party ," added the socialist legislator.
