The "Babale"/Salianji file is defended in court: My denunciations have always been proven. Why did Xhafaj's brother surrender?

Democratic MP Ervin Salianji has defended himself in the Court of Appeal, where the "Babale" case is being tried, saying that all the denunciations made by him in the past have been proven and proved to be true.

"We have considered the denunciation for a long time. It was made on May 14, 2018. For three days in a row, there was silence from the Minister of the Interior (Fatmir Xhafaj), from the prosecutors. Although he has been free for 8 years, the gentleman (Geron Xhafaj) under the influence of his brother and friends goes and surrenders. He goes to Rome with his hands in his pockets to serve his sentence. They take it on purpose, so that it does not deposit its own original voice. Xhafaj's voice was given to the prosecution via USB by his lawyer. There is no proof of any kind, nor any kind of fact."

Salianji was convicted in the First Degree for "false report", a charge that he does not accept.

"How can I file a false report with two people I have never met. I met Albert Veliu when he came to me with the journalist. How is it possible that Alizoti has no telephone communication with me, zero. But there are communications with the head of the parliamentary group of the SP, communication with the director of the Fier Police, with the deputy director of the Police. All the prosecutors and judges involved have all been dismissed. They used them, took them and threw them away. The judges who dealt with the case have both been dismissed ", said the democratic deputy.

"Their narrative is that I want to overthrow the government. What sense does that make? I want to overthrow the government every day. I have a mission. I will go out again to denounce the public interest. Who is the public interest here? A convict went to serve his sentence".

In the Appeal of the General Jurisdiction, Salianji opposes the sentence of one year in prison, given by the Court of Tirana in December 2019 for the charge of "false report".

Although he was sentenced to prison, he did not go to jail, as he was investigated and tried without security measures. The decision of the First Instance for 100 hours of work in the public interest has also been appealed by the co-defendant in this case, journalist Jetmir Olldashi.

According to the Tirana Court, the former MP Salianji and the journalist staged an audio-tap and false criminal charges against the brother of the former Minister of the Interior, Fatmir Xhafaj.
