In this Thursday's preliminary hearing on "Sterilization", former Minister of Health Ilir Beqaj asked the Special Court what he should say and what not, if he is called to the Investigative Commission, as a witness.
Ilir Beqaj: "I have been called to the Investigative Commission to present my claims and to give explanations to the deputies. Meanwhile, I have a security measure from another judging panel (for the SASPAC file), how much time will I be given to prepare my positions? This is not the biggest concern, as I will have to break down in the commission all the acts and arguments, some of which constitute investigative secrecy, and my statements there may constitute a violation of the court's decision for non-disclosure of investigative secrecy. I want to know the position of the court".
The prosecutors informed him that for this matter, Beqaj does not have a coercive security measure, which means that there is no reason for him to receive permission from SPAK or GJKKO, to answer the call to the Commission.
In the Commission's list, Ilir Beqaj, in the capacity of the former Minister of Health, was called as a witness on October 9. In addition to him, the former deputy minister of health Klodjan Rrjepajt was also called to the Commission.
The latter has been given permission to testify on Friday at the Parliamentary Investigative Commission of Albania, while he will be accompanied by the police.
The preliminary hearing for "Sterilization" was postponed to October 3, as the special prosecution has not yet finished the 160 pages of the indictment, following the request made by Ilir Beqaj himself and his lawyer. 70 pages have been read so far.
