Former DP candidate for deputy in the 2021 elections, Qani Xhafa, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning after being involved in a road accident. Sources for Report TV inform that Xhafa was drunk at the time of the incident.

The accident happened on "Qemal Stafa" boulevard in Elbasan. It is learned that Qani Xhafa, who was traveling in a drunken state, collided with the traffic divider on the road. After the accident, Xhafa was arrested by police officers. Qani Xhafa ran for the DP in the general elections of 2021 in the city of Elbasan. He was ranked 8th in the list of candidates for deputy, after Luciano Boçi who managed to secure the mandate.

Luciano Boc's candidacy for Elbasan will leave a vacant seat for the deputy in the ranks of the Democrats, which must be filled. Thus, after the resignation of Boçi, according to the data of the CEC, Qani Xhafa, the former head of Labinot Mal Municipality, will be in his place.
