EU Ambassador in Tirana Silvio Gonzato, speaking at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Initiative for Central Europe, which is developing the works in Tirana, said that in this initiative the existing member states and those who will join us in the future join together. .

Gonzato emphasized that when " EC President, Ursula von der Leyen, when she spoke before the EP, she made clear the vision of the European Union, a stronger Europe that protects citizens, that protects democracy and brings good things ".

The EU diplomat said that this region, together with Ukraine, are the closest friends of the EU.

" After the war of Russian aggression, the front of the European agenda is expansion and we can hardly wait to open negotiations with Albania on the group of fundamental issues ", said Gonzato.

He stated that integration into the EU will be a reality, while adding that full alignment with the EU's foreign policy is our common objective.

Regarding regional cooperation, Gonzato emphasized that it brings transformation and promotes peace and stability. In this context, the EU Ambassador emphasized that an environment where there is trust is key in the implementation of reforms that bring you closer to the EU.

" Parliaments have a key role to bring countries closer together. Only parliaments can bring political legitimacy to the accession process. The accession process is not just a technocratic project, but a change of societies is needed , "said Gonzato.
