The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has called on the democrats and all Albanian citizens to continue the massive protests aimed at the immediate removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

During a media conference, Berisha made serious accusations against the head of government, saying that he is burdened with a "mountain of corruption files" and acts of high national treason, such as the massive expulsion of Albanians and backstabbing of Kosovo.

"My call to every democrat, to every supporter of the DP, but also to every Albanian citizen who loves this country, to continue the most powerful protest the country has known in the great mission of salvation for the country and the nation, the immediate removal of Edi Rama, who is burdened with a mountain of corruption files.

On which are burdened acts of the highest national treason against the Albanian nation, the massive expulsion of Albanians from Albania and backstabbing against Kosovo and its authorities."

The opposition leader also mentioned concrete figures, focusing on a 2014 OSCE report that accuses Rama of hiding 200 million euros offshore, and stated that the prime minister's family members are involved in corrupt and criminal affairs.

According to him, the latest protest of almost half a million Albanians proves that no force can save the head of the executive from leaving. In closing, Berisha demanded the immediate resignation of the prime minister and the creation of a caretaker government composed of experts, which will have as its primary mission the restoration of free voting in the country.

"On which his terrible thefts weigh heavily. In 2014 alone, in the OSCE report, Edi Rama is accused of having deposited offshore as mayor 200 million euros stolen from Albanian taxpayers.

But after that, the series of files is as big as Mount Dajti in terms of the billions they involve. The Sultan of Surrel has proven to be a ruthless thief against Albanians. He has robbed his suite of billions, billions of euros. He has transformed them into palaces, villas for himself, into palaces.

His family members appear in the criminal files of the AKSHI, in the criminal file of Porto Romano and in dozens and dozens of other files. The protest of almost half a million Albanians on Saturday proves that there is no force in the world to save Edi Rama. Therefore, I once again demand his immediate resignation.

"The creation of a caretaker government not of political forces, but composed of experts and responsible people who restore free voting to Albania and Albanians and allow them to elect the people they want with their votes."
