Socialist MP, Elisa Spiropali, has reacted through a Facebook status regarding her idea for a "New Deal for Albania", just a day after Prime Minister Edi Rama publicly mocked her during the extended meeting of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group.
"Yes, we will have the New Deal for Albania," Spiropali writes at the start of her message.
She emphasizes that the Albania that is intended to be built must be "more open, fairer, more meritocratic and more European."
According to Spiropali, to achieve this objective, the Socialist Party must also reform itself.
At the end of the message, Spiropali calls for the "New Deal" to be "great, deep and true", adding that "if we do not elevate ourselves, we cannot improve the country".
"Yes, we will have the New Deal for Albania."
The Albania we want to build must be, and we will be, more open, more just, more meritocratic, more European.
To achieve this, the Socialist Party needs to find the strength, gather its wits, purify itself, become more dynamic, more democratic, more compact, to remain always young, always pure, without filth, without rust, without wrangling.
"Let's make the New Deal great, deep, real, considering that if we don't elevate ourselves, we cannot improve the country," Spiropali writes on social media.
Her reaction comes after Rama publicly referred to this idea a day earlier during a meeting of the Socialists.
"It is also a call for a new Albania, and there are some lost souls in our party who want a new Albania. I can't wait for them to bring us the written draft of the new Albania. But I'm afraid it will never come, because the new Albania is like all the silhouettes of flamingos, one of which was held by Fatos Lubonja. Fatos down, flamingo up and 'hi hi hi hi new Albania'. We will be criticized and attacked, but we have an obligation not to choose the easy way, not to choose to be popular, when we should be responsible", said Prime Minister Edi Rama at the meeting of the SP Group.
