Rama's media-free debate with Durrës residents: Don't compare me to communists because I'm completely gone

Prime Minister Edi Rama held a hearing today with the residents of Durrës, whose homes were demolished by the construction of the TID project.

The meeting without media was accompanied by debates, while there was also a lack of high-pitched voices and irritations, Panorama Online reports.

In his speech, Prime Minister Rama admitted to the residents affected by this project that he agreed with them that the compensation they were awarded was not at the right level. "I did not come here to discuss the project at all. I came to discuss that the value they have given you is unfair," Rama said.

While he stressed that this project will be implemented at all costs, he also asked residents not to "collude with communists," otherwise he would leave the meeting.

"If you start fighting with the communists, you will fight with your own, your own state. You will be lost because I have seen a lot myself. I came here so that you do not get lost. If you do not listen to what I say, then you will be confused by your own words.

"I said that the value they have determined is not fair. Now she stands up and tells me again. I said it myself from the beginning and that is why I came. I did not come here to discuss the project at all. I came to discuss that the value they have given you is unfair," Rama declared.

The conversation was accompanied by interventions from residents who mentioned the case of the expropriations of the Vlora Navy, but Rama responded in a harsh tone.

"If you don't listen, I'll get up and he says then why are you shouting. I'm shouting because I don't want to leave. If you want, I'll say goodbye to you! And I'm leaving and you continue on your own. But I want to talk about expropriation, not about anything else," Prime Minister Rama further stated.

On the other hand, the debates of the residents of Durrës focused on the fact that they were not against the construction of the TID project, but they requested that they not be displaced from the area where they were.

Some of them requested reconstructed apartments in that same area, while others requested a reevaluation of the property that would be expropriated.
