The former DP candidate for the Municipality of Tirana, Roland Bejko, has stated that the decision taken today by Enkelejd Alibeaj to resign from the leadership of the party was a fair decision.
He added that Alibeaj was in a difficult situation even within the party, while he "attacked" General Secretary Gazmend Bardhi and Jorida Tabaku for not helping in the campaign and creating an unhealthy climate within the party.
Excerpts from the discussion on the show "Open":
Roland Bejko: Alibeaj did not consult with anyone about the resignation. I got a phone call shortly after resigning. The reason he said was that he did not want to be influenced by anyone. We have been in a battle for a year and a half, so far it seems that DP is still breathing. It is a wounded body, as a result I think that Alibeaj has done the right thing because it was predicted that the elections for the chairman should have been held a year ago, but the intensity of the situation made the party go to the elections.
It is not a secret for the public, there comes a moment when the political developments within the party must be known to the public, transparency must be made. Alibeaj was in a difficult situation because the position of the group and the leadership were in conflict. The General Secretary helped the candidate for the pulpit and the vice-president did not appear one day in the campaign. One weekend they had captured both mountains. I campaigned, the lady in question posted exotic photos from Bjeshke and Namuna.
I have not removed the stress of the campaign either with the political opponents or with the citizens, but I have spent whole nights without sleep because of the obstacles that came to us from within the party. I did the campaign without a grain of salt. Funds have passed only a few days after the campaign ended.
Agim Baçi: Did Rama say we will campaign without expenses, you also imposed that on him.
Mentor Kikia: Beyond cynicism, for a candidate who has already closed the campaign there is no more value.
Roland Bejko: I wasn't even on the billboard spots in the city. Our structures were not activated.
