The General Secretary of the DP, Gazment Bardhi, reacted after the resignation of Alibeaj from the position of the commanding chairman of the DP and head of the parliamentary group, 3 days after the defeat in the local elections of May 14.

Bardhi writes that after learning about the decision, he called the vice president of the Democratic Party Jorida Tabaku to an urgent work meeting to discuss the situation. He quotes the articles of the PD statute and says that he must call the National Council, which commands the Vice-President who will lead the Party until the return of the President to office or the election of a new President.

Full reaction:

"After I became familiar with the statement of the Vice President of the Party, Mr. Enkelejd Alibeaj, who exercises the responsibility of the leader of the Party, that he renounces the exercise of this responsibility and the duty of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Group, I called to an urgent working meeting to discuss the situation the Vice-President of the Party Jorida Tabaku, to evaluate on implementation of Article 46 of the Statute, in this transitional period.

According to Article 46 of the Statute, in the prolonged absence of the chairman and with his authorization, one of them replaces the Chairman. In the absence of this authorization, including cases of resignation of the President, the General Secretary convenes the National Council, which commands the Vice-President who will lead the Party until the return of the President to office or the election of the new President," wrote Bardhi.
