President Bajram Begaj began his two-day official visit to Montenegro with the Albanian municipalities of Tuzi and Plavë-Gucinë, where he was treated to a fraternal reception and festive ceremony.

In Tuz, the "Besa" ensemble welcomed the President of the Republic of Albania with the "Mejdan Dance" in the square where the monument to the national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, stands.

President Begaj placed a wreath of flowers at the Skanderbeg monument, located in this square on November 28 of last year for the flag holiday, and greeted the citizens.

He then held a meeting with leaders of Tuzi and political representatives of Albanians in institutions, with whom he discussed strengthening the positions of Albanians in Montenegro and the region, as well as joint commitment for their good. The Head of State encouraged the leaders of Tuzi to continue their efforts to preserve their identity, while guaranteeing Albania's support for the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, stating that this is a priority for Albanian institutions.

Even in the meeting with Albanian activists from Plavë and Gucië, the President of the Republic, while learning about the problems they face, emphasized the need to find ways to preserve and strengthen Albanian identity in the face of any challenge, such as emigration or assimilation of indigenous Albanians.

The President congratulated Albanians for preserving their language and Albanian identity, and expressed his willingness to pursue cross-border development projects that would impact the economy of these regions, while emphasizing the importance of implementing joint projects between Albania, Kosovo, and Montenegro.

President Begaj emphasized the importance of this meeting for addressing the Albanian issue and the continuation of such contacts, so that communication is institutionalized through the construction of connecting infrastructure between each other.

"The national issue must dominate over any political interest, due to the fact that it is more important and we must also work hard to protect the Albanian language," said President Begaj.

"Our common interest is to protect our DNA and our DNA is linked to language. You said that no one is stopped at school from learning Albanian, but we need to promote more, inherit more, cultivate more. This is achieved with the contribution of every Albanian individual who lives here, children, young people, adults, wise elders, who must come together for what is important to us," he continued.

The President of the Republic pledged that he would convey such a message to his counterpart, Milatovic, for the development of these areas, so that young people can find job opportunities here, so that Albanian youth do not emigrate, but live in the lands of their ancestors.

President Begaj promised Albanians in Montenegro that he personally and as President of the Republic will be at their disposal in the service of major national interests and also assured them that they have and will have the attention of the Albanian state.
