In an interview on the show "Log." Lulzim Basha, former leader of the Democratic Party, commented on the division of the opposition and, according to him, the influence of Prime Minister Edi Rama in this process.

Responding to Rama's accusations about his political "sleep", Basha said that he "sleeps comfortably", while suggesting that Rama, on the contrary, does not find peace because of his affairs.

"One of the reasons why Rama can't sleep is his involvement in the corruption of one of the highest security figures in the USA," said Basha, implying the influence that he believes Rama has exerted on Charles McGonigal.

Analyst Lorenc Vangjeli challenged Basha by asking him why he withdrew from the political scene after 2021, leaving the "field of action" to former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, whom he called Basha's "political father".

Basha replied that the opposition should have moved forward, without getting involved in internal conflicts and dealing with personal causes, as Rama wanted.

"Rama invested everything to divide the opposition and succeeded by focusing the battle on Berisha," Basha emphasized, underlining that the division was part of a well-thought-out strategy by the head of the government, in cooperation with oligarchs and criminal groups.

According to Basha, this "personal cause" has had serious consequences for the unification of the opposition, leaving traces of Rama's influence on the breakdown of the political unity of the democrats.

Excerpts from the discussion:

Basha: Since Rama accuses me of sleeping, I sleep comfortably. One of the reasons why Rama can't sleep is the corruption he has done to one of the highest security leaders in the USA.

Since you mentioned sleep, why did it seem like you dozed off after September 2021 when you did a political act and left the field of action to your political father, whose turn it was for you to kill?

Basha: We have exhausted this, but the focus of the opposition and PD, according to me then and today, should have been to move forward and not to get stuck in the internal war as Rama wanted. Rama's investment was successful in Berisha. This is the only investment Rama has made these years.

His investment is Mr. Berisha. We should not be harmed by a personal cause, such as that of Mr. Berisha. This battle to divide the opposition has the fingerprints of Edi Rama, the oligarchs and criminal groups he made available to divide the opposition.
