The head of the Democratic Party parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, has responded to the statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who said that the news about the 'blocking of negotiations with the EU' is a lie by the opposition.

Bardhi accuses Rama of obstructing the EU integration process due to his stances towards SPAK and support for Belinda Balluku.

According to Bardhi, negotiations with the EU have been delayed and conditions have been added to the country, due to a lack of trust in the rule of law. He also highlights the concerns of member states over the “Balluku” case and the AKSHI scandal, demanding more transparency from the government.

Gazment Bardhi's full reaction

Edi Rama lied a lot and made fun of Albanians! If it weren't for your vote against SPAK and in favor of Belinda Balluku, Albania would have started closing chapters for accession negotiations today. This is not happening, not because of the opposition, but because it cannot sell soap for cheese to EU member states. Today we are in conditions when Albania is being given additional conditions in the accession negotiations, because the prime minister/lawyer of Belinda Balluku and the prime minister/partner of Ergys Agas have broken the trust of the partners in the rule of law and equality before the law.

That the "Balluku" issue was a test for Albania on the path to integration, was not said by the opposition in Tirana. Europe said it! And today, we are at least 4 months behind schedule with the negotiations, not because of the opposition, as Edi Rama shamelessly deceives, but because he chose Belinda, that is, his chair, before European integration and the interest of Albanians.

Member states are interested in two main issues:

1. The corruption of Belinda Balluku.

2. The AKSH scandal.

For both of these, 49 questions have been sent so far, and the answers provided by the European Commission have not yet convinced member states to give the green light.

Why doesn't Edi Rama provide transparency about this delicate phase of the negotiation process, but continues with the usual rhetoric, filled with hatred and slander against the opposition?

Why don't you tell the Albanians that at the last meeting on April 9, 7 member states declared that they will send additional proposals for Albania?

Why doesn't Edi Rama tell Albanians that 4 member states, with increased concern after his vote in defense of Balluk, have declared that they will approve the intermediate milestones (tasks that must be done during the negotiations), but only on the condition that reinforced and broader conditions for Albania are set at the closing milestones (final criteria for closing a chapter)?

I believe that everyone remembers Edi Rama's stance during the campaign that "we cannot waste even a day of time with the negotiations, because the EU door could be closed". Today, there is only one person responsible for the delay in the negotiations: Edi Rama. Today, there is only 1 truth about integration: By voting against SPAK on the "Balluku" case, Edi Rama will cost Albania not a day or two, but at least 6 months of delay in integration!
