The Assembly of Albania has agreed to extend the deadline of the Special Commission for Territorial Reform. Beyond the decision-making for a commission that was predetermined to fail and end without a product, due to the public attitudes of the head of the SP group, Taulant Balla, it seems that the parties have asked for time for negotiations.
It was precisely Balla's stance that the SP will not accept more than 61 municipalities, which forced the Democrats to start negotiations with the internationals.
The Socialist Party withdraws for the territorial, agrees to add municipalities
Sources for ABC inform that Enkelejd Alibeaj and Jorida Tabaku have contacted the internationals to seek to intervene in a process in which they are fully invested and which risks being undermined by the socialists. It was these negotiations that forced the socialists to withdraw and reconsider their positions.
For the socialists, the general secretary, Damian Gjiknuri, and the head of the SP group, Taulant Balla, are in negotiating positions. The request that the internationals do not stop their influence for this reform so important for the Albanians was also shared by the head of the Commission for Territorial Reform, Dhurata Çupi.
The democrats will wait for the reflection of the socialists until the end before the President of the Republic decrees the date of the local elections.
For Çupin, it is a moment that, beyond votes, socialists see the services of citizens as a priority. The next local elections will be in a period between April 15 and May 15.
