Prime Minister Edi Rama said tonight that Fredi Beleri's victory in Himare is an indication that this government and SP did not use illegal means to win this Municipality.
He said it also proves that the charge brought against Beler is not political.
"The elections in Himara have shown something else, which no one will notice. They took place in complete calmness, voting took place without any incident or obstacle, where the candidate opposing the government won by a handful of votes. And this completely rejects any argument that there was an attempt to obtain a victory with extra-legal and extra-electoral methods that has nothing to do with the measure given by the Court at the request of the prosecution", said Rama .
On the other hand, Rama justified the harsh comments made by Greece as statements that came because Athens is in elections. He said he will reply when the elections there are over.
However, he added that Greece cannot interfere in Albanian justice.
"I want to respect the elections in Greece and understand the inflammatory rhetoric trying for as much wisdom and restraint as possible because we have done an extraordinary job with the Greek government to build a new bridge of cooperation.
I will do my best, until I react proportionally. Justice institutions may have their flaws, but no one since me has not challenged them, let alone from outside Albania.
The prosecution in cooperation with the police have arrested a mayor and a SP candidate in Bulqiza for a case with an accusation basically what it is. It didn't even occur to me to raise my voice and I ask the prosecution and the court to produce the evidence that this is how I want it and when I want it. It never occurred to me to question their work and role, nor do I think to do this. There is no possibility for us to agree with the idea that there is another justice for the citizens of Albania and another justice for the citizens of Albania with Greek nationality. It is the same nationality. I have heard a lot and I preferred not to speak until the end of the elections, hoping that after the end of the elections in Greece there will be a dialogue. The Greek minority is not meat for anyone's electoral balls, neither in Albania nor in Greece".Rama said.
