Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher is no longer bedridden, 12 years after the serious head injury he suffered during a skiing accident in the French Alps in 2013.

Sources close to the family have told the media that the 57-year-old can now sit in a wheelchair and move around his properties in Majorca and near Lake Geneva.

Schumacher continues to receive 24-hour care from his wife, Corinna, and a team of medical staff. According to sources, he understands some of the things going on around him, but not everything.

Schumacher has not been seen in public since the accident. In 2024, there were rumors that he might appear at the wedding of his daughter, Gina-Maria, but that did not happen. Last year, three former family employees were convicted after threatening to publish hundreds of photos of Schumacher in his current state.

Recently, his daughter shared a rare photo of the family before the accident, with the caption: "The best forever. Happy birthday dad."
