Al Pacino has written an emotional tribute to his former partner, Diane Keaton, who passed away due to pneumonia.

The 85-year-old said he is devastated by her death and tells how she had changed his life.

Pacino and Keaton starred together in "The Godfather" trilogy and were together for 20 years.

"When I heard the news, I was shocked," he wrote to Deadline, noting that he was "deeply saddened" by her death. "Diane was my partner, my friend, someone who brought me happiness and who influenced the direction of my life.

"Even though 30 years have passed since we were together, the memories remain vivid and with her departure, they have returned with a force that is painful and powerful."

The actor praised her "unmistakable energy" and how she opened doors for others inspired him.

"People will miss her, but more than that, they will remember her. She left a mark that cannot be faded. She was unstoppable, relentless and above all, deeply human. I will always remember her. She could fly and in my heart, she always will," the letter concludes.

Keaton passed away on October 11 at the age of 79.

She and Pacino dated in 1974 and ended it in 1990, after Keaton gave her an ultimatum and he refused to marry.

However, they have always supported each other.

At an awards ceremony in 2017, Pacino told her: "You're an artist, Di. You're a great artist...I love you, forever."
