She has just turned 70 and remains an Italian and international diva. Protagonist of iconic films directed by the best masters of cinema.

Ornella Muti gave an interview to Corriere della Sera where she reflected on her life so far, her long career and her family.

It's not often in the spotlight, but was that because of the weight of fame?

"I've been thinking about it lately. I've always kept myself away from a certain world, from parties... even the right ones. This has penalized me a bit. You know how important contacts are. I'm sorry that people think I'm a snob, it's not true," she says, saying that in reality, she is shy.

The actress is a mother of three children and now a grandmother, but on social media it is her eldest daughter, Naike, who stands out the most.

"I gave birth to her when I was 19, I wanted to always keep her behind me. She was my little sister, my guide. She saved me," says Ornella.

"I'm a girl from the '70s. I was young and at that time people were experimenting with drugs. There was a small group of famous people in Rome who were using drugs. Even the girls. But I had to come home to her. She was my beacon."

In acting, she hopes to take on some more roles, created for older women. For now, she chooses small roles, but theater is enough for her to feel happy.

The conversation also returns to her past history with Adriano Celentano. Asked if she once said it was the only betrayal and if it was worth it, Ornella said:

"I think as long as it happened, it was worth it."

In 2014, it was Celentano himself who first spoke about this story for the first time, revealing that Ornela Muti, in the film "Innamorato pazzo", had betrayed her husband, Federico Fachinetti. Adriano was married to Claudia Mori.

At that time, she said: "Adriano shouldn't have shown it, at least without telling me. Damn him."

At this point in her life, she reveals what she meant by that phrase: "I thought: look at the men. They always make the law. We had been very careful. But I say, if you're going to get caught, since you didn't do everything alone and I was there too, but you have to face me? Who knows what your brain told you."

The actress still has fond memories of him. "Adriano was hilarious, on set you never felt like you were going to work. He was playful. There was constant laughter."

Ornella still welcomes love, someone "to take her in his arms, caress her, support her" and help her in dark moments. But after all this, she is afraid because she "paid dearly" for love.
