William Levy gave a statement to reporters as he was leaving the Broward County Jail.
According to 'Just Jared', the 44-year-old actor was arrested and booked the night before, on two charges - intoxication in a public place causing a disturbance and trespassing.
As he was leaving the prison, William appeared to be walking away from reporters, but quickly turned and addressed those waiting, answering questions and sharing more of what happened the night before, leading up to his arrest.
He admitted he had been drinking, but he tried to intervene in an attempt to defuse an argument.
"And all of a sudden, he started arguing with another guy and I got in the middle, deescalating the situation and I'm the one who ended up in handcuffs," he said.
Per Hola, the actor also denied that he was the one who started the fight, denied that he had attacked a restaurant employee, and dismissed claims that he had acted aggressively.
"I tried to stay calm the whole time. In the end, I was the one who had to leave," he said.
Of his night in prison, William joked: "It was normal. I don't know if I made any good friends, but I met some new people."
William posted a $500 bond to be released, a total of two fines, $250 for each payment. The judge also ordered him to stay away from the area where he was accused of trespassing.
