Albanian singer-songwriter Ermal Meta will be one of the participants in this year's edition of the Sanremo Festival.
The news was announced through a video message published by the festival organizers, where Meta also reveals the title of the song with which he will take to the Ariston stage: "Stella stellina".
According to the artist, the song speaks of perseverance and hope and tells the story of a little girl from the perspective of a stranger.
"It's a song that talks about perseverance and hope and it talks about a little girl. To think that it was the right song, I was encouraged by the way I felt when I wrote it, because ultimately, that scene reveals all the emotions associated with the song, especially when they are true, even when they hurt," says Ermal Meta.
He adds that he is very excited and that, despite having done quite well in Sanremo every time, he never manages to fully get used to the Ariston stage.
Ermal Meta has a successful history at the Sanremo Festival, where he has competed several times, receiving numerous accolades from critics and the public. He won the festival in 2018 together with Fabrizio Moro with the song "Non mi avete fatto niente".
In 2017, he came in third with "Vietato morire", while in 2021 he took third place again with the song "Un milione di cose da dirti". Earlier, in 2016, he had competed in the Youth Category with the song "Odio le favole".
In 2018, Ermal Meta represented Italy at the European Song Contest, Eurovision, alongside Fabrizio Moro, placing fifth in the final, which was held in Lisbon.
