The well-known Brazilian singer Dani Li has passed away at the age of 42 from the complications of an aesthetic surgery, leaving her family members and well-wishers shocked.

Dani Li passed away on Wednesday, leaving behind her husband and 7-year-old daughter.

The singer, whose full name was Danielle Fonseca Machado, had undergone the complicated cosmetic surgery on Friday.

Her fat reduction procedure was performed on her abdomen, back and breast reduction, according to local media.

Complications started during the operation at the clinic in Pinhais, Brazil, which forced her to be sent to the nearby hospital in Curitiba.

The exact cause of death has not been published.

Her husband, Marcelo Mira, told the media: "Her body will be buried in Macapá. We are all shocked by this. The burial will take place on Saturday."

The singer was known in Brazil with the song 'Eu sou da Amazônia' (I'm from the Amazon).

She was born in Afuá near the Amazon jungle and started singing from an early age.

After winning a talent contest in her hometown, she settled in Macapá, where she started the special Brazilian music trend 'brega' - with the group 'Banda Sensação'.

In 2008, she met the poet Osmar Júnior, who became her producer and made her famous.

The deceased released the last song two months ago.

According to reports, she had paid about $5,000 for the operation, while police said they have launched investigations to find out the exact causes of the tragedy.
