Scientists have issued a stark warning after observing dramatic changes in the behavior of honey bees, which are facing difficulties due to rising global temperatures.

Studies show that bees are spending a lot of energy cooling down, beating their wings harder and taking shelter in the shade, which distracts them from their main role, pollinating plants and reproducing.

In addition to climate change, bees are also facing other stressors such as pesticides, diseases, and habitat destruction, which make them less resistant to heat.

"If the body is weakened and exposed to chemicals, resistance to high temperatures drops significantly," explained pollinator health expert Margarita López-Uribe.

Colony loss has become a major concern for beekeepers and farmers. Reports indicate that up to a third of colonies have disappeared, with serious consequences for agriculture. Bees are vital for the pollination of at least 35% of the world's food crops, including important crops such as almonds, apples, cherries and blueberries.

Scientists are closely monitoring this crisis and are looking for long-term solutions to preserve the bee population.

In addition to scientific research, initiatives are also being developed to make the environment more attractive and friendly to pollinators.

Citizens can also help by creating suitable spaces in their gardens, a small step that can have a big impact on the global food chain.
