A second hideout of Matteo Messina Denaro was discovered by the Carabinieri and Gico of the Guardia di Finanza the day before. Like in a thriller movie, the secret room was invisible and hidden behind a wardrobe covered with clothes. There was no bed, no furniture. The mafia boss allegedly built a kind of bunker, an armored room that could be accessed through a wardrobe of another house in the same area at 34 Maggiore Toselli Street.
A bunker in all respects taken in an apartment on the ground floor of a building in Campobello di Mazara, the village where he has spent at least the last year.
The owner, 70-year-old Errico Risalvato, was investigated and then acquitted in 2001 of mafia association charges.
The investigators arrived at the second shelter thanks to the analysis of some cadastral data. In the bunker, which is located about 300 meters from the house in Vicolo San Vito, jewelry, necklaces, bracelets and precious stones of considerable size were found. But nothing written has yet been found. There were some boxes full of papers that are now being examined by del Ro's carabinieri, others empty. Perhaps, after learning about the arrest of the boss, someone disappeared, Italian media reports.
Meanwhile, a second doctor, oncologist Trapani Filippo Zerilli, is under investigation for supporting the mafia boss, who had performed the DNA test necessary for the chemotherapy treatment that Castelvetrano's godfather had to undergo. The patient had presented himself to the doctor with the documents of Andrea Bonafedes, the surveyor who allegedly borrowed his identity and who, like Zerilli, is now under investigation. The carabinieri checked the doctor's office to see if Zerilli knew about the patient's personal data. Another doctor had also ended up on the list of potential supporters: Alfonso Tumbarello, a general practitioner of Campobello di Mazara, who was treating both the boss, alias Andrea Bonafede, and the real Bonafede.
