Xi personally warned Putin against a nuclear attack on Ukraine
Putin and Xi Jinping

The Chinese President, Xi Jinping, has personally warned his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in the event that the latter would carry out a nuclear attack against Ukraine, according to "The Financial Times".

According to the British newspaper, Chinese officials have thus taken credit for persuading the Russian leader to withdraw from secret atomic threats.

According to Xi, Beijing is worried about Russia's war against Kiev, even though according to Western and Chinese officials, it was offering tacit support to Moscow.

President Xi's message to Putin was delivered during a state visit to Moscow last March.
